Ten and Ninety

Today...

Today I woke up five minutes before I was scheduled to leave the house. I rushed to get dress, feed the dogs, and grab everything I needed for the day because it was gonna be a LONG one. Fifteen minutes behind schedule, yet I made it to work in just fifteen minutes with fifteen minutes to spare. In L.A.

Favor.

After my first class of the day, I sat down and spoke with one of my clients. We talked about how awful things have been lately, but we also spoke about how we must be the example of love and positivity for others because many people don't know what love looks like or how it feels. Our conversation made me bring up one of my go-to quotes, "Life is 10% what happens to us, 90% how we react". From there our conversation went even deeper and I realized that I can't recall a single time that I've fallen into depression this year...made it all the way to October y'all! That's not to say that bad things haven't happened, I just didn't let those things weigh me down.

Favor.

Anyway, a few hours after our conversation, I find myself stranded in a parking lot. My car wouldn't start, I had no idea what to do. I called my mom, then AAA. Following this I called my job. That's when I started freaking out because I didn't think I'd be able to find a sub in such short notice. I took a moment, broke down, then built myself up. Again, 10% circumstance, 90% reaction. The tow truck arrived in under 30 minutes, sub found, and the driver was very sweet and went above and beyond to assist me.

Favor.

Because my day started the way it did, with my late rising, I was forced to speak positivity into my life. From the moment I opened my eyes and checked my clock, "Everything is working in my favor." I repeated this over and over again and here we are. I had no control over the things that occurred today, but I did have control over the way I handled them.

For someone who's used to things going wrong, life has never felt more right.
