#WaistforWakanda

February 16, 2018

This date may not mean much to you, but it means so much to my friend Joi. This is the date that Marvel's Black Panther will premiere in theatres. Many may feel like Black Panther will just be another comic book film, but it's so much more than that. It's culture, it's beauty, it's black pride. Even if you're not a Marvel fan, you can't deny how important representation is. I personally get goosebumps each and every time I view the trailer.

Now for those of you who are not familiar with Joi, she is a blogger, commentator, and an all around amazing human being. I highly recommend checking her out. Warning: She will make you laugh until you feel those abs coming through. She's on YouTube, Instagram, and she's a Blog Contributor for The Average Black Girl.

February 16, 2018.

Okay, so that gives us two months and sixteen days to prepare for the on-screen battle between Chadwick Boseman and Michael B. Jordan. Now I have no idea what I plan on wearing that day, but Joi most likely has a Pinterest board full of potential looks and wants to look her very best in whatever she chooses to wear. She had this amazing idea to challenge herself to get snatched by the premiere of Black Panther. She's buckling down on her nutrition and her fitness regimen and she enlisted my help for accountability. For the next two and a half months, Joi will document her progress, her struggles, and her wins. I'm so excited to see Joi take control over her life by changing her daily habits. It's inspired me to make a few changes of my own. I decided to cut out dairy and meat from my diet completely. It's only been two weeks and I've already started to see a change in my skin and my body. I'll be documenting my own progress during the #WaistforWakanda challenge as well so be on the lookout!
